I bought this pink Marie Antoinette vintage dress for a photoshoot I had planned at this old mansion with iron gates, and honestly? It worked out way better than I thought.

I got so many random compliments from people walking by — even the security guard asked if I was a movie extra, which I’ll take as a win.

I paired it with a white wig, some feathers, pearl jewelry, lace gloves, and a little parasol. The whole look came together nicely, though getting the wig to stay put in the wind was a whole other battle.

Shipping was fast — it showed up two days early, which never happens with my luck.

The packaging was decent, nothing was wrinkled beyond saving, so I didn't have to spend forever steaming it. That was a relief because I was already running late.

The fabric isn't silk, and you can tell if you touch it, but it has a nice sheen that photographs really well.

In the shade it looked almost lavender, and in direct sun it turned into this soft bubblegum pink, which popped against the green bushes and stone steps. So if you're shooting outdoors, the color shift is actually pretty cool.

Sizing — I ordered a 10 because I was scared of the bodice being too tight, I probably could've gone with my usual size. It was a bit roomy, which gave me room to layer stuff underneath, so no complaints there. I also ended up sewing on some pearl trim and extra buttons from a craft store because I wanted it to look more extra. The vintage rococo dress base made that easy — it's simple enough to add your own bling without ruining it.

One thing nobody told me: you definitely need a hoop skirt and a corset underneath to get that big bell shape. They don't come with it, so factor that in. But even with buying those separately, I still think the price was fair for the quality — the lace sleeves and front pleats held up through hours of walking and posing, no tears or loose threads.

I messaged the seller about maybe getting a different color for another event, and they replied pretty quickly saying they could do custom orders. Haven't pulled the trigger yet but I'm tempted.

So yeah, if you're into this style and have a shoot or party coming up, it's a solid choice. Just don't forget the hoop skirt, and maybe have a friend help you with the wig. I'm happy with mine — might even order that second one after all.
