The masquerade gala turned out way nicer than I expected. Truth be told, I’d been worrying about what to wear for days. Waiting until the last minute is just my habit, I guess.

This dark green dress came out of nowhere. I didn’t hold out much hope at first. I’m 5’1”, around 118 pounds, and standard sizing always hits me a little off. Swapped my usual size two for a four, and slipped it on at home one evening. Instant relief. It fit naturally all over. I’d grabbed a pair of high heels just to test the length, and there was no need to alter a single thing. I’d even set aside a pair of scissors earlier, silly as that sounds.

Fancy dresses often mean sacrificing comfort, or dealing with tricky undergarments. Not this one. I wore my regular bra like normal, and the material stayed gentle all evening.

I didn’t do anything fancy with my hair. A simple loose updo, easy to fix if it came undone mid-night. Makeup was kept light too, complementing the rich dark green instead of competing with it. Simple choices always feel more like me.

The masquerade theme gave the whole place such a warm, dreamy atmosphere. Soft lights dotted every corner, and the deep colour of the dress blended beautifully with the surroundings. I spent hours mingling and walking around, and never felt like the dress was weighing me down.

I’ve had plenty of formal outfits that look great in photos but feel terrible to wear. This one’s different. I might look into other colours from the same style sometime soon. It’s nice to find something you know you’ll reach for again.
