So I'm just gonna say it – I'm overall really happy with this gown. And the main thing? It makes me feel beautiful. And honestly, that's what matters most, right? ?
First off, it looks exactly like the pictures. No weird surprises there. The construction, the sewing, the design – all pretty solid. It's that bell shape / A-line shape I was hoping for. I posted my own pics so you can see the skirt shape and size. If you're wondering about hoop skirts – yeah, a larger one could totally work. Mine has a biggest ring of 37 inches and there was still plenty of fabric to play with.
What I really love is the dropped waist. Super flattering. And the laced corset style means the sizing is forgiving. For reference, I'm 35" bust, 28" waist, 37" hips. I got a size 8 and it fits with the laces pulled all the way in. So if you're a little bigger or smaller than their standard sizes, there's a lot of wiggle room. Just make sure you measure yourself properly – the size 8 matched their size chart exactly. I didn't even need alterations or hemming.
Okay, so here's where it gets real. What makes this gown look cheap? The fabrics. I paid $189, so no shock there. The lining is taffeta or satin or some kind of polyester – nothing fancy. Then there are two plain layers of tulle, plus a third outer layer with the glued gems. The tulle itself is definitely on the cheaper end.
But here's the flip side – what makes it look expensive? The sewn-on gems, sequins, and beads. Those are gorgeous. The plastic gems come in three different shapes, which might bug some people, but honestly they reflect light beautifully. And the bodice has boning and a built-in bra – which actually gave my flat chest something to work with. So that was a win. ?
Now for the not-so-perfect part. On my gown specifically, the gems and sequins are slightly crooked near the navel area – the pointed bottom front of the bodice. You can see it in my close-up shot. Also, the red color I ordered pulls a little orange. But for my warm/olive skin tone? It actually works great. ???
My advice? Wait until you can snag this gown at a lower price – I paid $189, and that felt like a steal. That said, their regular retail price isn't bad either. This dress is perfect for someone like me who wants something inexpensive but still beautiful.
Would I buy it again? Yep. ✌?
